Bond fi­nan­cing

Cor­po­ra­te bonds have be­co­me of ever grea­ter im­portance in re­cent ye­ars, and not only among is­suers. Both in­sti­tu­tio­nal and pri­va­te in­ves­tors have in­cre­asing­ly ope­ned up to this seg­ment in re­cent ye­ars.

This de­ve­lo­p­ment has been fa­vor­ed by the in­ter­play of va­rious fac­tors. The­se in­clude the ge­ne­ral­ly low le­vel of in­te­rest ra­tes, the lack of in­vest­ment al­ter­na­ti­ves in the fi­xed-in­te­rest seg­ment, high li­qui­di­ty on the mar­kets, as well as more rest­ric­ti­ve len­ding prac­ti­ces on the part of banks and an in­cre­asing de­si­re on the part of is­suers to build up a more cri­sis-re­sistant fi­nan­cing struc­tu­re.
